In May 2015, I co-founded House of Leaders and became completely obsessed with growth. I was posting multiple times a day. At one point, 36 times in a single day. The numbers kept climbing.
When we hit 1 million followers, my wife Veron asked me a question that stopped me cold: “What if someone took HOL away from you? Could you prove it was yours, when you’ve always been behind the scenes?” She was right. I had spent years building an audience for a brand, but I had no brand of my own. With encouragement from close friends, I started building my personal brand slowly, not overnight. But things began to shift. Speaking invitations came. And doors I never expected started opening.
My personal brand gave me the chance to sit across from people I deeply admire, and have real conversations with them. Since 2018, that conviction became Brand N Purpose, built to help Indonesian business owners do the same.
Building a personal brand is more than creating content on social media. It’s about making your name mean something, so it works for you even when you’re not in the room.
